Branding for School of Chinese Music and Arts
I studied a 10 week course at School of Chinese Music and Arts on the Guzheng (Chinese harp). While there I made friends with the owner and asked if she needed help with some branding in exchange for some more lessons. I presented some ideas and she loved them, so I went ahead with the project, designing a brochure, business cards, a banner and letter heads. This was the result.
In June 2017 I received some bad news from the GP which led to specialists, scans and even a biopsy. Dark Grey Spot is a visual journal I began to work on as a way of clearing my head and processing what was going on. It is a collection of my thoughts and experiences that I put down on paper and turned into a minicomic.
Dark Grey Spot is available to read online now, click here to go to the page.
In November 2016 my wife and I went to China for a month. While there, I kept a daily sketch journal of all the peculiar things I saw, of which there were many! Over the past few months I’ve been scanning, editing and collating the illustrations into a series of 3 minicomics that are going to be released soon.
Check out some of the photos below of the project coming to life in the Parchbell studio.
I’m making a podcast to accompany the minicomics, something I’ve never done before but have always been interested in. The past few days I’ve been working on a song that will play at the beginning of each podcast using my Guzheng (Chinese harp). I’m real excited to be trying something new and can’t wait to release this whole project.
Check out the volume covers for the podcasts coming out soon…
I’m hoping it’ll all be ready to go next month…see you then!
Collaborative projects are always tough work and lead to some sort of conflict…this is what I’ve always thought until I collaborated with musician and long time friend, Alnitak_Kid. He wanted a cover design and sticker for his new release beat tape, Daymares&Nightdreams.
After weeks of throwing around many good and bad ideas we came up with this one, a collection of his instruments and equipment displayed on the cover with half the illustration laying on the inside of the tape which is designed to encourage people to play with and explore what’s inside.
The gallery above shows the finished product.

It’s official! I can give the illusion that I’m a professional now because I’ve got business cards…more like promo cards though. After only a day of having them I had someone approach me and ask what I enjoy doing in my spare time. Instead of trying to explain it all I reached into my wallet and handed him a card and said…”check out my site”. I felt like some kind of business man, hehe.
